Baby P. turned one last week, and we had a small outdoor get-together this weekend to celebrate. I was certain I must have been crazy to attempt to throw a fully outdoor party in mid-November, but the weather cooperated and it was actually nice out!
Due to COVID-19, I’ve RSVPed ‘no’ to my share of parties this year. At the same time, I understand the importance for these kids to have some social interaction… and celebrating milestones despite the pandemic helps to bring a sense of normalcy to all this. (Not to mention, Baby P. has spent so much of her life in isolation that she regards everyone she sees with apprehension. So much for having a well-socialized baby!)
I served homemade chili, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, chips, and homemade cupcakes. Nothing too crazy or fussy, just things to help people stay warm.
Cupcakes were a hit with Baby P.!
